Decker Terrier Puppies
All of our puppies are born and raised in our home with loving care. We take the time with each puppy to expose them to early neurological stimulation (ENS) starting at just a few days old. This has been found to enhance the puppy’s trainability and its ability to bounce back from negative stressors. Our puppies live among the usual hustle and bustle of a busy family home. They are given undivided love and attention by our whole family! When age and weather appropriate, we introduce them to an outside area where they get to explore and become accustomed to the noises and smells of the outside world.
Skyview Decker & Old Dominion Terriers reserves the right to retain any puppy in a litter for breeding purposes therefore, not every puppy in each litter will be available.
Decker Terrier Puppies: Loyal, Intelligent, and Ready to Join Your Family
If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent, and active companion, Decker Terrier puppies may be the perfect addition to your family. Known for their playful energy, strong hunting instincts, and affectionate personalities, these puppies grow into versatile dogs that fit well into both family homes and outdoor lifestyles. At Skyview Decker & Old Dominion Terriers, we take pride in raising healthy, well-socialized puppies that are prepared to thrive in their new homes.
What Makes Decker Terrier Puppies Special?
Decker Terriers are a unique line of the Rat Terrier breed, selectively bred for their size, athleticism, and temperament. As puppies, they are energetic, curious, and eager to bond with their humans. Unlike some smaller terrier breeds, Decker Terriers grow into medium-sized dogs, giving them a sturdier frame while still being manageable for families of all kinds.
When you bring home one of our Decker Terrier puppies, you can expect a companion that is:
-
Smart and Trainable – Decker Terriers love to learn and respond well to positive reinforcement training. From basic obedience to advanced tricks, they enjoy mental challenges.
-
Active and Playful – These puppies have plenty of energy, making them great for active households that enjoy walks, hikes, and playtime in the yard.
-
Affectionate and Loyal – Despite their hunting background, Decker Terriers are family dogs at heart. They thrive on companionship and often form deep bonds with their owners.
-
Versatile – Whether you’re looking for a hunting partner, a hiking buddy, or a family pet, Decker Terriers adapt to a variety of lifestyles.
Growing Up with Decker Terrier Puppies
Bringing home a Decker Terrier puppy is the beginning of a rewarding journey. As they grow, their personalities blossom, showing off the intelligence and independence the breed is known for. With consistent training and early socialization, these puppies develop into well-mannered adults who are just as comfortable snuggling on the couch as they are exploring the outdoors.
Decker Terrier puppies typically mature into dogs weighing between 25–40 pounds. Their size makes them larger than the standard Rat Terrier, which is one of the defining features of the Decker line. This extra size, paired with their athletic ability, makes them excellent partners for hunting, sporting activities, and active family life.
The Perfect Puppy for Active Families
Decker Terrier puppies are especially well-suited for families who enjoy staying active. They love running, playing, and exploring, and they do best in homes where they get plenty of exercise and attention. While they can adjust to smaller spaces like apartments, they truly thrive when given room to stretch their legs and burn off energy.
Despite their activity level, Decker Terriers are not just working dogs—they are affectionate companions. After a day of play, you’ll often find them curled up at your side, eager to share quiet moments just as much as exciting adventures.

At Skyview Decker & Old Dominion Terriers we take pride in the way that we raise our puppies. If you choose to get a Decker Terrier puppy from us, you will get:
- A puppy who was reared in our house around the chaos of our busy household and kids to ensure great early socialization.
- Potty tray trained and started on outdoor potty training.
- We crate condition to make continuing crate training easier for you.
- Your puppy will be on a worming schedule and up to date on their vaccines.
- We provide a lifetime health guarantee against life-threatening and severely debilitating diseases of congenital and genetic origin.
- We temperament test and personality match to each family so that your new family member’s temperament fits your household and ownership experience as optimally as possible. This is especially important if you have small children in your family and/or are a first-time owner.
- Your puppy will have had a few rides in a vehicle to help reduce their stress levels while making the journey to their new home.
- Your puppy will be conditioned to using a collar and leash.
- Pamper ready! We clip nails weekly and give occasional in-house baths. Your puppy will have a complete bath and trim prior to going home.
Along with your sweet family puppy, you will take home:
- A grooming brush
- A leash and collar
- A record of their health, vaccine, and veterinary records.
- Two baggies full of food, which will be enough to get you through the first couple days.
- A puppy manual with information pertaining to the diet they are currently on and information to help you decide whether to keep them on that diet or switch one way (BARF diet) or the other (All Kibble).
- Sample packet and information about the Nuvet supplement they are on, plus information on how to order some for yourself. I highly recommend using this product. I have seen firsthand the difference it makes for not a lot of extra money a month.
- Lifetime support throughout your entire journey with your beloved new family member.
